FAQ

If you have a question that does not appear in the list, please contact us.

Are dogs welcome?

Yes, dogs are welcome in the RivierPark Maasvallei, provided they are kept on a leash. There is one dedicated dog play area, where your four-legged friend can be let off the leash. However, the dogs do need to be obedient when called. They must not run after game or obstruct recreational activities. Watch your dog's behaviour at all times!

The dedicated dog play area is located on the edge of ‘Negenoord’ nature reserve in Stokkem. For more information about these and other areas and provisions, please consult the information boards at the area’s main entrances.

Nearby parking: Negenoordlaan 2, 3650 Dilsen-Stokkem.

Can I have a picnic?

Of course! There are picnic benches at the starting points or on the way along the hiking trails. They are drawn on the hiking maps and starting signs. Make sure you don’t leave any litter behind.

What are the RivierPark Maasvallei’s open hours?

The RivierPark Maasvallei is not an enclosed area. You can visit the different villages at your leisure. It is best to check the specific opening hours of museums and attractions before you set off via the website or the municpality’s tourist information office.
You can visit the different nature areas in the RivierPark Maasvallei between sunrise and sunset.

Can I swim in the Meuse?

No. Swimming in the Meuse is not permitted because it involves many risks (water quality, deceptive water currents, etc.).
At some of the Meuse lakes, day beaches were created where you can safely enter the water. At these beaches, you will also find the necessary amenities such as bars, toilets, changing rooms and often small playgrounds.
