Alongside the river Meuse there are a number of characteristic and atmospheric villages. Each has its own character and its own 'must-sees'. Let them surprise you!
A number of cultural walks have been worked out from the five Belgian access villages of the RivierPark Maasvallei. These are village walks that lead you along the most extraordinary historic buildings or places. For each access village, there is an accompanying brochure with some more background information about the buildings, monuments, etc. which you meet along the way.
The cultural brochure of Leut and ‘Meeswijk’ is very special. In addition to two interesting cultural hikes, this brochure also contains a detailed Tree Walk through the castle park of Vilain XIIII, which comes highly recommended!
Below is a list of the culture brochures:
“Kessenich en de Drie Eigen. Drie Eigenaardig Veelzijdig”
“Aldeneik en Maaseik. Een stroom van cultuur”
“Stokkem en Oud – Dilsen. Meer weten, meer wandelplezier”
“Leut en Meeswijk. Leutig om te weten”
“Oud – Rekem. Een authentieke Maasparel”
You can find the culture brochures in the tourist information offices in the RivierPark Maasvallei.
In addition to these cultural hikes, the various municipalities also offer numerous other cultural activities. Be sure to take a look at their websites.
